About the Basse Family

Mike and I (Stacey) met on October 16th, 1997 on a blind date (setup by Daryl and Deb Erwin and Dianna Wilber). Daryl and Mike worked together at Fort Lewis as part of 4th LSB (Active Duty Marines supporting the Local Reserves), and I had been friends with Daryl's twin sister Dianna (who lived in MN and was visiting her brother on their birthday) for years.

Mike and I hit it off right away and moved in together on January 18th, 1998 - living in a tiny duplex in Spanaway Washington together with our two dogs. Our connection was apparent to us both... Soulmates, we began planning discussing marriage right away.

We married on July 4th, 1998. Our wedding was as comfortable and casual as our relationship... we were married in the woods aboard Fort Lewis Army Base just south of Tacoma Washington... we exchanged vows on an old railroad bed overgrown with moss surrounded by the trees and those responsible for our meeting (Daryl, Deb and Dianna). Mom and Dad Preston, and my brother Joel and his family (wife Kelli and Rhiannon, and Zachary in-utero). Reverand Gerald "Jerry" Montgomery officiated. And, our lives wouldn't have been complete without our dogs, Kova and Sadie, in attendance!! :) -- Click HERE to see our Wedding Pictures. Sadie left us for 'Doggie Heaven' in late August 1998. It was horribly sad, but we know we will see her again someday!

Mike and I decided that we wanted to share our love with a baby. Conceived on the day that Mike signed his LAST contract with the Marine Corps, Our perfect son, Keegan Preston Basse, was born many months later on Friday May 5th, 2000.

We've made several moves since then, thanks to the Marine Corps, but most recently made what we hope will be the last move for many years. We are finally where we consider HOME to be - Western Washington - where we purchased a home in March of 2004. . Check out the 'Our Home' tab for info and pictures of our home!

We are enjoying life finally being TOGETHER, no Marine Corps to tell us where home is...

Mike and I traded 'jobs' in February of 2004 - when I returned to the work world, and Mike became a Stay at Home Dad to care for Keegan. We are both learning our new 'jobs' and the joys and stresses that come with each!
